On behalf of the New Zealand Optometry Student Society (NZOSS), I’m thrilled to announce we are bridging the gap between New Zealand’s and Australia’s optometry student societies!
The Optometry Student Society Australia (OSSA) was set up as a coalition of all Australian optometry universities, including Deakin, University of New South Wales, Queensland, Flinders, Melbourne, Canberra, and has now embraced us! OSSA will be rebranded as Optometry Student Society Australia New Zealand (OSSANZ). With OSSA being sponsored by Optometry Australia, we are now seeking sponsors in New Zealand to support OSSANZ.
Thanks to the new partnership, we will be participating in an annual international optometry student day conference connecting peers and future colleagues across the ditch. This initiative began just last year, offering students must-knows before graduating, the opportunities outside normal-scope optometry, the benefits of making interstate relations and what we can do as a group to push the profession forward. We want to unite our students, especially since the degree is transferrable overseas.
If you’d like to support OSSANZ or NZOSS with its upcoming events, including the annual Eye Ball, please don’t hesitate to contact us at [email protected].
