The 2018 Bachelor of Optometry graduates celebrated in style in November with a combined ceremony in the Great Hall at Auckland’s Town Hall, with their colleagues in pharmacy and nursing, hosted by the staff of Auckland University’s Faculty of Medical & Health Sciences, and afterwards at the Millennium Hotel. This year’s prize winners were:
Nick Lee - The Dean's Medal (awarded to the final year student who, in the Dean's opinion, has made an outstanding contribution to the academic development of the Faculty during their time as a student)
Alice Jackson – Excellence in Clinical Optometry Prize (awarded to the student who achieves the highest GPA across three clinical courses in Part V of the Bachelor of Optometry)
Alice Jackson – the Raymond Harry Hawkins Prize in Undergraduate Optometry Research
Marna Claasen, Lauren Curd and Alice Jackson – NZCO Prize for Project Presentation, first place, for their project, Castor oil: A novel topical blepharitis treatment, supervised by Grant Watters and Jennifer Craig (http://www.nzoptics.co.nz/articles/archive/castor-oil-for-dry-eye-demodex/)
