A striking set of clinical images took top honours at this year’s CCLS photo competition.

First place went to Lower Hutt optometrist Gregory Nel for his image ‘A closer look at active neovascular changes in scleral lens wear’. Second place was awarded to Sarah Lang of Timaru for her image ‘Clarity loves company’, while third place went to Eleisha Dudson, Wellington, for two images titled ‘Octopus cataract’ and ‘Coral veiling’.

The annual competition invites delegates to submit clinical photographs that capture unusual findings, striking ocular structures or instructive moments from practice. CCLS secretary Stephanie Mander said prizes for the competition were donated by Titan Optical, EyeSpace and the Corneal Lens Corporation.

Meanwhile, during the society’s AGM, it was announced that Andrew Kim had stepped down from the CCLS council and Robert Ng had joined as a new council member.
