Ophthalmic lens manufacturer Hoya Vision Care has partnered with ophthalmic device and instrument manufacturer Haag-Streit to address the global rise of myopia in children.
In Australasia, the pair’s global sales and marketing agreement creates a preferred partnership between Hoya, Haag-Streit and local partners, Toomac Ophthalmic in New Zealand and Device Technologies in Australia, to provide eyecare professionals (ECPs) with Lenstar Myopia by Hoya, a high-precision optical biometer, designed for the detection and treatment of childhood myopia, and state-of-the-art myopia management system.
“The partnership is designed to assist ECPs in delivering world-class care and best practice in the management of myopia in children,” said Ulli Hentschel, Hoya’s national training and development manager. “Working together, we’ll equip ECPs with the diagnostic technologies and treatment solutions to grow their myopia management practice.”
Toomac director Ian MacFarlane said he looked forward to helping to address the increasing myopia concern. “Combining a therapeutic solution and a measurement device, Hoya Vision Care’s MiyoSmart and the Lenstar Myopia offer a complementarity that affords better management of myopia development, particularly in children.”
The Lenstar Myopia is based on the Lenstar 900 optical biometer technology and corresponding EyeSuite myopia management software platform, providing information and education to patients and their parents about myopia. “For optimal therapeutic decisions in myopia management, accurate axial length and keratometry measurements are essential. Haag-Streit’s Lenstar Myopia is precise and reliable,” said MacFarlane.
