Device Technologies highlighted updated intraocular lens (IOL) designs from European manufacturer Teleon, combining established optics with a C-loop haptic configuration intended to feel familiar to cataract surgeons.
The Teleon Vario IOL brings the company's extended depth-of-focus (EDOF) optics to a C-loop platform, offering distance and intermediate vision while minimising the glare and halo effects sometimes associated with multifocal lenses.
Device Technologies product specialist – ophthalmics Diego Sonderegger said the optics themselves were already well established, with the key development being the introduction of the familiar C-loop design.
"The optics have been around for a while, but this is a different shape," he said. "Surgeons are very familiar with C-loop lenses."
Manufactured in the Netherlands using submicron lathing technology, the Vario platform is designed to provide a predictable visual outcome while integrating easily into existing surgical workflows, he said.
