After nearly five years of partnership, Marcolin and Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton (LVMH) will go their separate ways, with LVMH becoming sole owner of eyewear venture Thélios.
The move, with LVMH purchasing Marcolin’s 49% stake in Thélios and Marcolin buying back its own 10% stake from LVMH, represents an opportunity for LVMH to strengthen its presence in the eyewear industry, leveraging its Italian savoir-faire, and for Marcolin to pursue other strategic investments, the former partners said.
Thélios holds the eyewear licenses for Celine, Dior, Fendi, Givenchy, Loewe, Stella McCartney, Kenzo, Fred, Berluti and Rimowa, as well as its own high-end brand, 9.81.
