Marchon Eyewear has launched Eyes on Tomorrow, a global, long-term action plan to reduce the company’s impact on the planet, including the use of more sustainable materials.
The manufacturer said it is already using Eastman’s Acetate Renew, a fully sustainable material produced using innovative carbon-renewal technology, Upcycled Plastic, which repurposes plastic water bottles or upcycles them into a frame. The company is also using resin made from castor-bean oil as a cleaner alternative to petroleum-based plastics.
Marchon said it is constantly reviewing processes and practices for its global supply chain to find ways to reduce waste and its carbon footprint. It also collaborates with vendors and manufacturing partners to leverage new ways of work, including acetate recycling, recycling nylon scrap to manufacture displays and replacing incandescent lighting with LED lighting in its buildings. “Sustainability and responsibility are no longer trends but have become obligations,” the company said in a statement.
