Macular Degeneration New Zealand (MDNZ) has launched a nationwide photo competition as part of its latest campaign to highlight what New Zealanders risk losing if they don’t take their eye health seriously.
The competition calls on all New Zealanders, whether professional photographers or amateurs, to take a picture of a beautiful view and upload it to the charity’s website before 5pm on Sunday 9 August.
Entries will be shortlisted by three judges: actress and TV presenter Shavaughn Ruakere, landscape photographer Rach Stewart and nutritionist Claire Turnbull, who each have family members who suffer from macular degeneration. The shortlist will then be put to a public vote with the top three entries wining a free eye test, frames and lenses, courtesy of Essilor.
“When it comes to stunning vistas, we are spoilt for choice in this country,” said Ruakere. “We are calling on Kiwis to share their beautiful photography of their most treasured New Zealand views with us. We can’t wait to look through all the entries!”
