Amazon has announced a new feature of the Alexa voice command device now allows UK users to have health queries answered by the National Health Service.
A Department of Health news release said the collaboration with the tech giant will provide reliable health information from the NHS website through the voice-assisted technology.
“The technology will help patients, especially the elderly, blind and those who cannot access the internet through traditional means, to get professional, NHS-verified health information in seconds, through simple voice commands.”
By 2020, half of all internet searches in the UK are expected to be made through voice-assisted technology, according to the Government release, which said, “The technology has the potential to reduce the pressure on the NHS and GPs by providing information for common illnesses.”
