New Zealand’s optical wholesale community was well represented at this year’s Mido, with BTP International Designz’s Trish Orr and Rachel Green enjoying the opportunity to catch up with partners and peers and see what’s new in the world of eyewear and lenses.
“We were very keen to go after a long period of restricted travelling,” said Orr. “The highlight for us, apart from seeing how the optical industry is evolving, was to finally catch up with our fantastic partners and build on what are already great relationships.”
Mido 2023 presented a good mix of colour, styles, boldness and eco-friendly ranges to suit all generations, said Orr. “We saw angles and shapes, with bold colour incorporated, and lots of incredible designs and quality materials. (The use of) environmentally friendly materials stood out.”
Picking up on those trends, BTP added two new brands to its portfolio: David Green’s handcrafted biodegradable eyewear and Ronit Furst’s studio range offering “fun and colour in good wearable shapes.”
