Boosting its dry eye family of products, Medix21 has introduced Rayner’s Aeon pre- and post-surgery eye drops to help manage patients’ dry eye and improve visual outcomes.
The new Rayner range, including Aeon Protect Plus and Aeon Repair, is specifically formulated to meet surgeons’ and optometrists’ needs, said Medix21’s Camille Furnandiz at CCLS. “If you’re going to have refractive lens surgery, you really need your dry eye sorted out beforehand to achieve an optimal outcome and these eye drops are currently the only ones on the market designed specifically for relief of dry eye pre- and post-eye surgery.”
Aeon Protect Plus and Aeon Repair are preservative- and phosphate-free. Aeon Protect Plus contains 0.3% cross-linked sodium hyaluronate, allowing it to stay on the cornea for longer, providing longer-lasting lubrication compared with the traditional linear form, Furnandiz explained. The Aeon Repair drop for post-surgery contains 0.15% sodium hyaluronate and is enhanced with antioxidants vitamins A and E to support healing, she said.
Catering to different needs, the range also includes Aeon Protect, a phosphate-free lubricating eye drop for mild to moderate dry eye, and Aeon sodium chloride 5%, a phosphate- and preservative-free hypertonic ophthalmic solution for the temporary alleviation of symptoms associated with corneal oedema.
