Phoenix Eyewear is launching independent eyewear brand Plein Les Mirettes (‘a feast for the eyes’) in New Zealand, bringing French flair and individuality to the local market.
Founded in 2011, Plein Les Mirettes is known for its bold, artistic designs and strong commitment to local craftsmanship, said Phoenix Eyewear’s Phil Wilson. “Primarily made in the Jura region, a historic hub of French eyewear production, Plein Les Mirettes frames are handcrafted in small batches, typically around 75 pieces per model or colour, which adds a sense of exclusivity.”
The Phoenix team discovered the brand at Silmo Paris a couple of years ago. Plein Les Mirettes focuses on high-quality acetate frames, combining durability with comfort while emphasising expressive colours and unique shapes, thus creating a balance between creativity and wearability, Wilson said. “Positioned in the mid- to high-end designer segment, Plein Les Mirettes stands out for its blend of artisanal production, limited-edition philosophy and contemporary French style.”
The brand also incorporates sustainability practices, including local manufacturing and efforts to reduce material waste, he said. “Overall, it’s a label that appeals to those looking for distinctive, well-crafted eyewear with a strong design identity.”
