The Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians Board (ODOB) has appointed a new registrar, Antony McFelin, who replaced long-standing registrar Lindsey Pine on 1 April 2020.
ODOB chair Jayesh Chouhan said he was delighted to welcome McFelin on board. “Antony has been a manager with several organisations and most recently the executive officer of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors. His qualifications include a post-graduate diploma in management studies from Waikato University and a master’s degree in education (counselling) from Otago University. The board looks forward to working closely with Antony.”
On behalf of the board, Chouhan also thanked and bid farewell to Pine who has decided to take some time out to spend with her family. “Lindsey was appointed as the registrar of the board in 2011 and, over the years, she has become an integral part in helping to regulate optometrists and dispensing opticians in New Zealand. She has created valuable relationships with many of our stakeholders as well as being the frontline board contact for our registrants. Lindsey has been an amazing person to work with and she will be missed tremendously.”
McFelin, who is currently working alongside Pine, said he is looking forward to getting to know more about the two professions the board regulates and to engage with key stakeholders.
