The OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation is partnering with the World Health Organization (WHO) to support WHO’s SPECS 2030 initiative to improve refractive error coverage.
The SPECS (improve access to refractive services, build capacity of personnel to provide refractive services, improve population education, reduce the cost of refractive error services, strengthen surveillance and research) initiative builds on the world’s first global target to increase effective refractive error coverage by 40% by 2030, which was endorsed by WHO Member States in 2021 at the World Health Assembly.
The Foundation said it will provide technical input, share best practices and contribute data to inform WHO’s initiatives in alignment with the global eyecare target of effective refractive error coverage.
