Optica Life Accessories has acquired Magnifiers NZ, affirming its role as the biggest supplier of optical accessories in New Zealand.
Having fielded many enquiries over the years about supplying magnifiers, it is exciting to now offer a complete range, said Tom Nichol, general manager and director at Optica Life Accessories. “We have always carried a small range of magnifiers, so when the owners approached us, after taking a closer look, we decided to take the plunge.
With the acquisition of Eyeline Optical last year and now Magnifiers NZ, Optica is a one-stop destination for optical parts and accessories in New Zealand, he said. “In my experience as a customer, it is always easier to deal with one supplier for all your needs.
Nichol said Optica prided itself on exceptional customer service and this will be extended to all Magnifiers NZ customers. “We will also sit on stock of the more popular products, so we will be able to deliver orders faster.”
Magnifiers NZ was formed in 2015 by Michael Blaxall and New Zealand optical industry stalwart Brian Black, who founded Eyeline Optical more than 35 years ago. Black said he is looking forward to an active retirement. “I’ve left work to carry bricks,” he said. Jokes aside, Black said he will enjoy spending more time with family, has joined a genealogy society and is busy tracing his family history. Magnifers NZ co-owner Jodi Rawiri is also retiring while Blaxall is setting up a new business specialising in binoculars, he said.
