Selected from 3,900 nominations, Lumenis’ OptiLight technology for the treatment of dry eye disease (DED) has received MedTech Breakthrough’s Best New Technology Solution for Ophthalmology award.
“Dry eye disease is highly prevalent and difficult to manage, and traditional treatments like warm compresses and artificial tears treat the symptoms but not the underlying pathology,” said MedTech Breakthrough’s managing director James Johnson. “OptiLight is leading a revolution in managing dry eye disease with breakthrough technology that allows doctors to treat patients quickly, in-office.”
A market intelligence platform for global technology innovation, MedTech Breakthrough previously awarded Lumenis Best Overall Medical Device Company in 2021 and Best New Surgical Technology Solution in 2020.
Lumenis CEO Tzipi Ozer-Armon said the team was very grateful for the recognition. “Lumenis is committed to raising the bar for patients’ health by providing cutting-edge solutions and treatment innovations… OptiLight has the power to elevate dry eye management and improve health and quality of life for millions of people around the world.”
Lumenis introduced OptiLight in May 2021 and recently launched a US media campaign featuring singer-songwriter and actress Mandy Moore to increase awareness for DED.
