Alcon has teamed with US tech company HPO, inventor of High Energy Visible Light (HEVL) filtering and technology, to advance its light-filtering contact lens materials.
Their agreement gives Alcon exclusive access to HPO’s selective HEVL intellectual property and includes the advancement of HEVL-filtering contact lens materials, said Andy Pawson, president and general manager of Alcon’s Global Vision Care.
“We’ve found that many contact lens wearers are eager to reduce the amount of HEVL that reaches their eyes. It’s one of the reasons why we’re thrilled to incorporate HPO’s HEVL technology into our newest contact lens innovations.”
HPO has been developing HEVL/blue light-filtering for over 10 years with an early focus on applications in and around ophthalmic lens products.
