A remote vision-testing platform developed in the UK will soon be available to optometrists in Australia. Capable of testing patients at a safe distance within the practice or even from their homes, IbisVision assesses visual acuity and performs testing using 24-2, Amsler grid and Ishihara plates.
The platform was trialled by UK optometrists in 2020. Among their feedback was the suggestion that even post-Covid, IbisVision could have a role in monitoring patients who are unable to visit practices in person.
“The Covid-19 pandemic has added real urgency to our efforts and validated our remote optometrist technology focus,” said IbisVision’s commercial director, Melville Berwick.
