Fashion designer Nicolas Fafiotte is the president of this year’s prestigious Silmo d’Or awards.
Fafiotte, a graduate of the ESMOD School of Fashion Design (honoured with the first prize in the haute couture category), trained in Paris with the late Emanuel Ungaro, among others, before moving to Lyon in the early 2000s. There, he opened his own design workshop where, in his own words, he crafts “exceptional garments for exceptional occasions that express celebration”.
Curious to discover other creative worlds, Fafiotte said he is eager to take on the role of president of the Silmo d’Or awards, especially since he is a native of Oyonnax in the Ain region, perceived to be the cradle of the French glasses industry. As a fashion designer for exceptional occasions, Fafiotte said he is greatly honoured to cast a perfectionist’s eye over the nominated products.
