The Snowvision 2022 conference in Queenstown has been rescheduled for 2-5 August 2023, the biennial education and skiing event’s third postponement due to Covid-19.
While it’s disappointing, organisers said they made the difficult call due to concerns over Omicron. “Snowvision is a live conference where morning and afternoon sessions are separated during the middle of the day for recreational activities like skiing and golf,” said organiser Grant Watters. “Also, the keynote speakers always come over from the State University of New York, with whom we have a reciprocal arrangement to send Kiwi optometrsts over on scholarships, which remain very popular. So, barring any new exotic Covid variants, we are fairly confident that we can run Snowvision next year to keep the tradition going, hopefully with a pent-up demand!”
Despite pandemic challenges, Snowvision’s 2021 scholarships have been awarded to two members of the New Zealand optometry community with the time required to take up the scholarships extended to five years.
