The Snowvision 2021 conference in Queenstown has been rescheduled for 3-6 August 2022. This is the popular education and skiing biennial event’s second postponement due to Covid-19 and while it is disappointing, organisers said they would rather wait and offer a conference with overseas speakers next year.
“An integral part of Snowvision is our reciprocal relationship with the State University of New York College of Optometry (SUNY) and to have guest speakers from there, which certainly wasn’t going to happen this year,” said co-organiser Grant Watters, adding there was also the risk of additional lockdowns to factor in. “Hopefully, by this time next year, the borders will be open so we can re-invite our overseas speakers, including assistant clinical professor Matt Bovenzi from SUNY, who is still keen to come.” A dedicated conference website will be available closer to the time.
Despite pandemic challenges, Snowvision’s scholarships are going ahead, with the time to take up the scholarships extended to five years from the award date (see ad in March’s issue). For more information, contact trustee Hamish Caithness on [email protected]
