Professor Steven Dakin, School of Optometry and Vision Science (SOVS), Auckland University, has welcomed new members to the school, strengthening both its leadership as well as its research capabilities.
The following roles were announced late last year: Dr Joanna Black, SOVS senior lecturer has been appointed first deputy head, Ashley Gray is now a professional teaching fellow, Christina Campbell is the new clinics manager, joining SOVS from North Shore Urology where she was practice manager.
Marvin Wu has been made research programme coordinator and joins SOVS from the Faculty of Arts. David Han joins Ehsan Vaghefi’s team from Fisher and Paykel Health Care where he was product development engineer.
In other news, Dr Jacqueline Ramke has been appointed Associate Professor, courtesy of the Buchanan Charitable Foundation. A/Prof Ramke is a Commonwealth Rutherford Fellow, supported through the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the United Kingdom. Her research focuses on equity in eye health and differential access to eye health services, with current projects including use of diabetes eye services in New Zealand and visual impairment among people attending diabetic retinal screening in South Auckland.
