Great news for optometrists who were relying on the now-cancelled O=Mega21 to complete their CPD requirements – Southern Regional Congress (SRC) has been revived as a virtual event.
Held from 2-4 September, SRC will retain most lectures that were part of the O=Mega21 programme. Optometry Victoria/South Australia (OV/SA) said that rather than a static webcam stream, it will look much more like a TV broadcast – interactive, colourful, educational and fun.
The three-day registration fee is $249 and the 700 optometrists who were already registered to attend the face-to-face event will be automatically transferred, with a refund issued for the difference in cost. Refunds are available for those who cannot attend.
OV/SA said it is unable to offer masterclasses as part of the virtual offering because most of the speakers are interstate and SRC Virtual is being recorded live in a Melbourne studio. They are, however, exploring options to deliver these in another format.
CPD points are available for both Australian and New Zealand optometrists.
