A new technology may let users read, write and respond to text messages without stopping what they are doing or looking away. iPVenture, which has patented the technology, says integrating text into augmented and virtual reality eyewear will allow users to text while still immersed in advanced-viewing experiences. As AR/VR reality become more widespread, including in the workplace, the glasses will allow users to see text messages alongside interactive content, listen to incoming messages via integrated text-to-speech technology, and to answer texts simply by speaking.
This means users can keep their attention on what is in front of them, which can also be safer for those who can’t look away from their current task (for example, navigating). No timeline for production is known yet.
