UK oculoplastic surgeons responding to a Moorfields Eye Hospital survey said they foresee telemedicine continuing to be used post-Covid-19 in triaging, postoperative and eyelid lesion assessments.
Of the respondents, 86.6% said they are incorporating telemedicine into routine clinical practice and reported a statistically significant increase in their confidence in using, and quality of infrastructure to employ telemedicine following the Covid-19 outbreak. Researchers reported the main barriers to implementation included difficulties in conducting clinical examinations, lack of administrative support and patients’ poor access to digital technologies.
