The amendments to the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law requirements on mandatory notifications are effective since 1 March 2020.
“The amendments are designed to support practitioner health and wellbeing and make mandatory notifications easier to understand,” said National Boards and Ahpra who issued the change.
The new threshold for reporting a concern about impairment, intoxication and practice outside of professional standards has been raised to when there is a perceived substantial risk of harm to the public.
The amendments apply in all states and territories except Western Australia and affect the reporting obligations for registered health practitioners who treat other health practitioners as patients.
