Iveric Bio announced two trials of avacincaptad pegol (ACP) showed a combined 56% reduction in rate of vision loss compared to sham in patients with geographic atrophy (GA) secondary to age-related macular degeneration.
The company reported intravitreal ACP 2mg, a novel complement C5 protein inhibitor, met its primary endpoints based on GA area in the phase 3 Gather1 (286 participants) and Gather2 (448 participants) trials. Vision loss was defined as a loss of ≥15 letters (EDTRS) in best corrected visual acuity from baseline measured at any two consecutive visits up to month 12.
Iveric will present the full results at the ARVO meeting from 23-27 April in New Orleans, US.
