The West Australian Vision Education (WAVE) conference 2018 will once again take place at the stunning Rendezvous Hotel in Scarborough, Perth from 11 – 12 August, 2018. The re-development of Scarborough Beach is complete and is said to now rival other Australian beaches as one of the country’s top tourism destinations.
Following the successful 2017 event, WAVE has once again assembled some of Australia's leading presenters and educational champions with a commitment to provide 'practical take-home' education in a series of clinical workshops and lectures.
Optometry Western Australia (OWA) new president Rob Howie commended the OWA Education Committee which has yet again put together a stellar programme, he said. “Hui-Lin, our OWA board member leading education, carefully chooses entertaining speakers with topics that are stimulating, thoughtful, timely and relevant to our professional careers. WAVE is a fantastic opportunity to gain quality CPD while enjoying beautiful Perth, which is a great place to visit in August with cool, crisp evenings, mild sunshine, pleasant temperatures and lots to do.”
The impressive speaker line-up for WAVE18 includes newcomers such as Dr Monica Jong (see below) and some more seasoned WAVE speakers, back by popular demand, such as ophthalmologist, Associate Professor Celia Chen, from Flinders Medical Centre and University. Here’s a little more on some of the other keynotes:
A/Prof Rod Baker
Associate Professor Rod Baker, head of paediatric services at the Australian College of Optometry, was a clinical teacher at the University of Melbourne for 10 years.
