Created from hemp fibre and water, crowdfunded Hemp Eyewear Edinburgh is a new sustainable alternative to plastics.
Ethically handcrafted in Scotland, the range of frame styles named Eden, Walden and Muir are stronger and lighter than carbon fibre, said founder Sam Whitten.
“Our hardened frame material is formed by processing plant fibre into solid material comprised simply of hemp fibres and the right amount of water which reacts with the hemp as a binding agent.”
The frames are comfortable to wear with nose pads made from hemp for maximum comfort and high-grade nickel spring hinges allow anyone to wear Hemp Eyewear, whatever head shape or size, said Whitten.
Hemp Eyewear offers free repairs and if customers want to exchange an old frame, they can send them back to be recycled and receive 50% off their next pair.
