A young ophthalmologist, Dr Ashik Mohamed, was chosen from a pool 300,000 potential candidates as one of 11 University of New South Wales’ (UNSW) outstanding alumni at the university’s 2018 Alumni Awards.
Dr Mohamed works with the LV Prasad Eye Institute in Hyderabad, India. He has a decade of experience in basic, clinical and translational research in ophthalmology and vision sciences, working with institutes and specialists around the world to find innovative ways to restore vision, and has received several awards for his research on a national and international scale.
The award was presented to Dr Mohamed, for his work on the cornea and crystalline lens as well as visual photosensitivity thresholds, reported Insight magazine.
“Such a recognition from UNSW motivates people like me to do much more amazing things in the field of my research in ophthalmology and vision science,” Dr Mohamed said.
